Default WordArt - stretching

In Excel 2003, you could type your WordArt and then stretch vertically or
horizontally to make it as small or large as you like. In Excel 2007, when
you click and drag to stretch the WordArt, it stretches the box, but the word
stays the same. I can change the size of the font, but that sizes the word
proportionally. I can't make a tall and skinny WordArt anymore. What am I
missing?
