Default How can I resize columns within one row only?

I'm using Excel 2007. I'm not sure if there's a way to do this, but I want to
have more columns/different width columns in a couple rows here an there than
I have in the rest of the rows. I need some of my columns to be a little
wider/skinnier than others without shrinking them too much for the data
that's already in that column a little further up the sheet. Is this possible?
