Default two related workfiles

Hi, I have two Excel work files related, whenever I open one it will
automatically open another one, I wonder how to turn this feature off. It's
annoying. My version is MS office 2002 SP3

Thanks so much,

Hank

Sounds like the two files were saved as a "workspace"

Make sure each workbook is saved and closed independently.

Look for *.xlw and delete it.

The two files will not be deleted.

Hi Gord,

I searched for xlw file, but can't find it, I tried to move all speadsheets
to a new blank and save it as regular file, but it still open another related
workbook when I open new file. It is annoying...

Don't know how to get rid of it.

Thanks
Hank

Are you sure that it's two files, and not two windows on the same file? If
the latter, the windows would be labelled with a :1 and :2 at the end of the
workbook name. If this is the case, close one window (blue X below the red
X at the top right-hand corner), then save the workbook before closing the
workbook.

Where are you storing and opening files?

If you have files stored in your XLSTART folder, all will open when you start
Excel.

Move them out to another location..........except for any customized templates
like Book.xlt or Sheet.xlt or Personal.xls

Also all files in ToolsOptionsGeneral "At start up open all files in"

Delete any path from that dialog box.
