Default Data copy locks cell in worksheet

I'm using a protected worksheet (Excel 2003) that allows people to update
selected cells. Direct data entry by typing works fine. However, when data
is copied into an unlocked cell from Word, SharePoint, or other Excel files,
the data posts and the cell becomes locked. Cells with pasted data cannot be
accessed by anyone other than the worksheet owner with the password.

How can users copy data into unlocked cells in a protected worksheet without
the destination cell becoming locked?

Maybe you could train them to paste directly into the formulabar--or use
edit|Paste special Text.

Thanks. The formula bar works.

Paste Special - Text does not. The cell becomes locked.

Both worked ok for me. But at least you have one suggestion that works for you.
