Default My good 'ol formula for inserting text isn't working!!

Hi all,

Previously, I obtained this formula from someone on this site and it worked
fine. Now, I'm having problems:

Im trying to insert the words for the purposes of in front of the name of
everyone in the G. I did this successfully before by creating a spare
column. I used the formula =assignee of &G2 and then copied down. This
time, no go. It just displays the formula in each cell of the column. Any
advice? Thanks!
