Default Macros in Excel 2007

We have an issue with Excel 2007 workbooks in our workplace. We have an
Excel 2003 workbook that just contains unlock and lock macros. Our
administrators open this workbook, and then they are able to open different
lecturers workbooks and apply these macros to lock and unlock specific cells.

This works fine in Excel 2003, but when they saved the workbooks to Excel
2007 format, although the administrators are still able to open the lecturers
workbooks, the lecturers get a message saying that the file format in invalid
or is corrupt.

Any suggestions as to what the problem could be? Any help appreciated.
