cannot merge and center
Does anyone know why simple functions in Excel '07 would be unavailable
(icons grayed out) All I want to do is a simple merge and center on an unprotected, shared workbook and I cannot get the icon on the toolbar to "light up" Thanks! |

You'll have to unshare the workbook in order to merge the cells.

Count yourself fortunate that you are not allowed to "merge" any cells.
I can't speak for 2007 but in 2003 "merge cells" is unavailable for shared workbooks. Try Center Across Selection which is allowed.
