We have several spreadsheets that feed into a report. Is there any way to
protect the sheets to allow data entry but not allow to insert extra lines? |

Unlock those cells into which you want to allow data entry, then protect the sheet. The user can then enter data into those cells and not be able to insert rows and columns.
