Disappearing Names in Excel 2007
In at least one Excel 2007 macro-enabled workbook, names I give to certain
cells or ranges disappear from the list in the Name dropdown box as well as Name Manager when I close and then re-open the workbook. I've been careful to make sure I save the workbook each time I create a name but they still disappear on re-opening. Is anyone else having this problem and, if so, found the solution? |

Disappearing Names in Excel 2007
There are some names that won't appear in the namebox. And some names can be
marked as not visible. Any chance you're seeing one of these? Just curious... What is the name that's disappearing and what does it refer to? Maybe someone running xl2007 will notice a problem with more info. Thanks, but I don't think that's the problem. The names don't appear in Name
Manager even with all the filters off. Plus, I get an error when the macro tries to go to the named range. "Dave Peterson" wrote: There are some names that won't appear in the namebox. A name can have workbook level scope, which means that once defined, it can
be used in any cell on any worksheet. A name can also have worksheet level scope, and that name is visible only on the worksheet on which it is defined. My guess is that you are dealing with names and inadvertently were defined with worksheet, not workbook, level scope. -- Cordially, Chip Pearson Microsoft Most Valuable Professional Excel Product Group, 1998 - 2008 Pearson Software Consulting, LLC www.cpearson.com (email on web site) "Daryl Fagala" wrote in message ... Oddly enough it appears that the same names disappear each time. For a while we thought we had the problem fixed: We uninstalled an unrelated program and reinstalled Excel - the problem went away for a week but now it is back. We have thourougly investigated the possibilty that it is a scope and/or visibilty issue, and we are certain that it is not! Any insight? Peter Klein |
