Default Disappearing Names in Excel 2007

A name can have workbook level scope, which means that once defined, it can

defined with worksheet, not workbook, level scope.

In at least oneExcel2007macro-enabled workbook, namesI give to certain
cells or ranges disappear from the list in the Name dropdown box as well
as
Name Manager when I close and then re-open the workbook. I've been careful
to
make sure I save the workbook each time I create a name but they still
disappear on re-opening. Is anyone else having this problem and, if so,
found
the solution?- Hide quoted text -

We've had the same problem with names disappearing in Excel 2007.
Oddly enough it appears that the same names disappear each time. For a
while we thought we had the problem fixed: We uninstalled an unrelated
program and reinstalled Excel - the problem went away for a week but
now it is back. We have thourougly investigated the possibilty that it
is a scope and/or visibilty issue, and we are certain that it is not!
Any insight?
