Make sure you have both workbook files open in the same instance of excel.
Close one workbook (and that instance of excel) and use File|open to open the second file. Then try it. Wanna Learn wrote: Hello I have Two workbooks opened. Thanks Dave
I did exactly what you told me €“ still have the problem. However if I select a cell enter = and go to the other workbook I have to manually select the name of the tab so that it appears on the formula and manually type the cell number . then it works e.g. ='[2008Daily Stats Export.xls]Daily Stats Export'!B2 I entered = in the first workbook, went to the second workbook had to select the tab name then type in the cell number Thanks again "Dave Peterson" wrote: Make sure you have both workbook files open in the same instance of excel. I'm not sure what manually select the name of the tab, but when I do this, I can
select the worksheet tab that I want and point at the cell--and it works ok. Another option if you still have trouble. Start with the "sending" cell edit|copy go to the "receiving" cell Edit|paste special|paste link Wanna Learn wrote: Thanks Dave I did exactly what you told me €“ still have the problem. Again Thanks Daved - Not sure what was wrong- I tried eveything you told me.
I finally deleted the file and created a new file. Now it works. This was a old file.
