Date and Time formatting

Does anyone know how to make a format with a military-style date and time? I
used
dd/hhmm/MMM/yy
so 1200 on January 1, 2008 would look like 011200JAN08, but when I go to
sort the dates/times, it always goes to the first two numbers.
