Default Linking a range of cells

I have monthly totals in row 17, columns c through n of book1. I named this
range of cells total1. I want to link total1 to row 20 columns e through p
in book2.

I want to link by name, so that I can insert rows in book1 when book2 is not
open and not lose the link.

I can't get the link to work properly because book1 totals start in column c
and book2 link starts in column e.

Thanks
