Default Tab to next cell takes me 5 rows away!!

I only use excel occassionally - but my sheet i have been using for years now
wont allow me to tab across one cell at a time! When i press tab to take me
to the next cell accross, it takes me about 5 rows further?? how can i get
back to tabbing one box at a time?

Use Tools | Options and open the Transition tab; deselect the box
"Transition Navigation Keys". Somehow your Excel is set to behave like Lotus
1-2-3
best wishes
