Default Blackberry- Excel

Could someone please advise if and how Microsoft Excel database and
spreadsheet files can be downloaded onto a Blackberry.
I have acquired my son's old BB and would like to sync files as I have been
doing using Microsoft Activesync to copy files to my HP Pocket PC.through a
USB port.
Also can the BB be set up to connect to the internet through a router? I do
this using my Pocket PC and connect through various public routers, ie:
libraries, Staples, Starbucks, etc.
At the present time all I can use the BB for is for Outlook programs, task,
memo, calendar, ansd e-mail using a USB cable..

Thanks.

I email them as attachments, and then open the file through the BB options.
It really isn't very useful as the viewable data is lomited.
