Default Changes in data do not lead to instantaneous update of results

For some reason when the data in my spreadsheet is changed the result is not
updated to show this change in the source data. For instance if a formula is
set to add all the cells between range a1 and a5 and cell a3 is changed then
the result still shows the addition of the old data. However when you save
the spreadsheet the result does update to the new data correctly. Also if you
delete the formula and re-enter it it does also show the correct result.

Any help would be appreciated.
