Default Pivot Table

I am trying my hand at making a pivot table. When I go to Data/Pivot Table
and Pivot Chart Report, it is grayed out. Is it is because it is "read only"
and shared. Are there any other ways to make reports in excel 2000. Thanks

You can't create a pivot table in a shared workbook. You could create
the pivot table in a different workbook, and use the data from the
shared workbook as the source.
