Default Changing default Page Setup

I am a support technician for a company. I have a user who claims she was
able to open an Excel spreadsheet and the program would enlarge her font
based on how many columns were filled on the document, before we upgraded her
to Office 2003. In other words, if she opened a document which had data in
columns A-E, her screen would stretch the contents of these columns so that
she only saw columns A-E filling her screen, and would not see anything past
column E to the right. I realize that she can increase the zoom percentage
until she gets the desired effect, but she doesn't want to have to adjust the
zoom settings for each spreadsheet she opens. I am inclined to not believe
she ever had this ability in former versions of Office, but then again, I
haven't used Excel extensively, myself.
