Default Excel Save with Errors

I have a user that when he uses the Save function to save a spreadsheet. I
gets an error message that it is not compatable. This happens on new or
updating existing spreadsheets.
If, he uses the Save AS function he has no issue.
I have already repaired and made sure all the lastest service paks are
installed.

Does anyone have any other ides.

What version of excel are you and he using?

In xl2003, I'd check to see what the default format is via:
tools|options|transition tab
and make sure that the "save excel files as" box showed:
Microsoft Office Excel Workbook

Yes, we are both on XL2003.
Yes he is set to save in Transition as
"Microsoft Excel Workbook"

I have also tried to set it to
"Microsoft Excel 97-Excel 2003 & 5.0/95 Workbook"

Just incase he had an old one before he was upgraded.

I don't have another guess.

Maybe it's time to post the exact message. It might help others guess
correctly.
