Default Sharing file between Excel2007 and Excel2003

Anybody have ever met following problem before, or is there any MS
tester/developer know this problem, please help me verify this problem,
thanks a lot!!

Problem Description: An Excel sheet stored on Shared driver, one user open
it with Office2003, another user open it with Office2007 under following
situation, then following problem will happen:

1. First, A user open an Excel sheet in shared folder with read-Write by
Office 2003 .

2. Then Another user open the same sheet with Office2007 as Notify

3. The user with Office2003 close the sheet

4. The user with Office2007 get the notification, then change mode to
read/write.
Notes:
If following messagebox let you choose to Discard your own changes and save
as another copy, choose Discard.

5. Now, first user with Office2003 open the sheet again.

6. There will be NO Popout notification indicating that the sheet is locked
by other user, in fact it should be locked by Office2007 user now.

7. Office2003 user now is still able to open the sheet with read/write
capability.

Result: when Office 2007 user attempt to save his changes, he cant save his
changes and message will popout that another user is using the file.

BTW, If all the user is Office2003, no such problem happens.
