Default filtering for unique records

When using Excel's Advanced Filtering utility to copy unique records to a
different location, does one need to specify a criteria range or is the
selection "unique records only" self evident?

No, you don't need to specify a criteria range. You can extract unique
values from the entire list.

Debra, right after I posted my question, it occurred to me that I should have
checked your website first. I did go there eventually and read the segment
about extracting data to another worksheet (which is I what I would like to
do). However, even though I follow your directions (at least I think I do!),
I get the message that filtered data can only be copied to the active sheet.
Where might I be going wrong? :-(

Make sure that you follow the instructions to Extract Data to Another
Worksheet:

http://www.contextures.com/xladvfilter01.html#ExtractWs

Before you start the filter, you should select the sheet on which you
want the results.

Debra, I had missed the point about starting the Advanced Filter from the
sheet where I want the results. Once I did that, it worked perfectly.
Thanks!!!
