Default Excel 2003 file conversion problem

HI,

I am trying to convert an excel 2003 file (developed in XP) to be opened in
excel 2002 or older versions (on a windows 2000 pc), so I use the 'microsoft
excel 97 - 2003 and 5.0/95 workbook' save option. But the converted file
cannot be opened. I have also tried to save the 2003 file using the ' excel
5.0/95 workbook' option and the file can be opened in excel 2002 windows 2000
pc. But some features and data are lost. I would be grateful if someone
could provide help and advice for this problem, i.e. how can I convert the
excel 2003 (XP) file into an excel 2002 file or older versions ( on windows
2000) without the lost of data?

Any advice is much appreciated!

Best Regards

Default Excel 2003 file conversion problem

There is no need to save the file in any particular file format to be opened
in Excel 97-2002
The file format is the same. Only for previous versions than 97 is it
necessary.
There are some new features in 2003 compared to 97-2000 like the list
function and some addendum to the SUBTOTAL function but you have to make
sure that when you design the spreadsheet for multi-le versions that you
don't use functionality that have been added.
However the file format is the same so you don't have to do anything to open
a file created in 2003 in 97-2002

Default Excel 2003 file conversion problem

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, it was because I could not open the 2003 file with
its original format in the first place that I need to try to use a different
format. The problem seem to be opening 2003 files on windows 2000 system
with excel 2002 or less on it. I have tried to open the 2003 files on
windows 2000 with excel 2000 and 2002 and both have the same result, i.e. the
file cannot be opened or it was opened with severe formatting and data lost.
I have also disable the macros to allow the see if that is the reason but
the results are the same.

Any advice will be much appreciated
