Default Files not in "My Recent Documents" list

I installed Office 2007 pro a few months back.
None of my ".xlsx" files show up in the Windows "My Recent Documents" list
fro the start menu.

However, the "Add Ons" (funcres and solver" always show up.

If I use 2007 and save a file in the 2003 format, it shows up in recent
documents. Any suggestions or solutions?

I'd check Tools - Options - General Tab in 2003.

I do not have 2003 version, I have 2007 version.
If I save the file as 2007 it doesn't show up in recent files
If I save it as 2003 version (using Excel 2007) then it does show up.
