Default Reduce filesize

Hi,
does anyone know how I can reduce the file size of an excel workbook? I
have been working with this file for a year- it has always been under 5MB -
all of a sudden the last 2 or 3 times I have worked on it and saved it - it
has gone to 21MB (and I can't figure out why) !! Now I can't email it because
it is too big.

Thanks for any help

By any chance, do you have Pivot Tables in your file?

Hmm...
It did at one time, but I deleted that sheet. I am eventually going to do
it again once I enter more data.

one way to reduce the files size is...delete all empty cells...yes that's
right.
If you had data once in some cells and you deleted somply the data, Excel
still keeps the info about all these earlier edited cells.

so delete all the empty cells, save the file and check size.
Also if you have too many array formulas and names ranges, files size goes
high.
