Default Getting external data

When I select Get External data from excel, I do not see all my tables and
queries in the database that I selected. I only see VIEW and TABLES files
and only a few at that. This was working great and it seems like a link was
broken in excel, not letting me see all the tables and queries. Any ideas how
to fix this ?? A similar problem would happen in Word but by selecting
"confirm conversion on open" under tools, it would ask for options like DDE
link, and that would make the link and problem solved. Cant seem to find the
same thing in Excel
