Default Mail Merge

My company awards scholarships to children of its employees in various high
schools. I am sending letters to various heads of schools advising them on
students who have been granted scholarships.

My problem is one cheque is issued in respect of all student in that school.
Some schools have as many as 50 students whereas other have only one student.
I have an excel data base that contain student records such as Student name,
Award number, amount per student, school, etc.

How can I create a mail merge that can list all students in a particular
school in one letter, the school address, total amount and cheque number.

Sample letter
"We forward cheque number #### for $#### in favour of:

Name Award No. Amount
Frank Ben J5005 $500
Mary Blogg H1434 $500
$1000

Whenever I have had to do this I use Word for the merge and excel for
the data.

If you have not done it before the Word mail merge is quite helpful I
managed it first time
