Default Can't open Excel doc

all of a sudden started happening. It says: "windows can't find *.xls
Xp os with Excel 97.

Steve,

Try opening the file inside Excel with File - Open. Then try the "usual fixes" -- see
"Excel acts generally goofy" at http://www.smokeylake.com/excel/vfaq.htm, and try the things
there.
