Default Cutting and Pasting in Excel

I am no longer able to cut/copy a selection of data from one spreadsheet and
copy it into another. Is there a setting or something that I have some how
changed that would keep me from doing this?

Not clear what you mean when you say you cannot paste? Do you get an error
message? Does just nothing happen when you press <Ctrl<V? Have you tried
to click on Edit and then select Paste? Are you trying to copy from and
paste to 2 sheets in one file, or from one file to the other? If the latter,
do you have both files open?

The paste icon on the toolbar is greyed out and Control V does not work. Nor
does right clicking in the cell on the other worksheet. I'm trying to copy
from one file to another and both are open at the same time.

Typically "Paste" is grayed out when there is nothing in the clipboard.
Are you actually getting anything copied to the clipboard? Do you have
both sheets open when you try this? Or are you closing one and opening
another? If so what add-ins have been installed? New software perhaps?

Both sheets are open and I have not installed any new software since it
started acting this way. The last new software I installed was this past
weekend and the paste function worked after that.

If you click Edit, Office Clipboard, do you see anything get copied to it?

It shows that the item is being copied to the clipboard, but I have to click
on the item in the clipboard for it to paste. Otherwise, it won't work.

All it does is configure Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 and tell
me that Setup is completed.

I'm working on a computer at work. I can't create a new profile/user. Our IT
person suggested deleting user settings until it corrects itself. Any
thoughts?

Are you opening 2 instances of Excel, or two sheets in different windows?

I can cut/copy and paste between Word and Excel. I can cut/copy and paste
between 2 instances of Excel (by which I mean clicking on the Excel icon two
different times). But I can't cut/copy and paste between spreadsheets when I
either select "New" or "Open."

That makes it sound like there is something "jiggered" in the template,
a macro perhaps?
