Default How to quickly check any error for opening excel files?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to quickly check any error for
opening excel files?

I have a list of files over 500, and a macro file is created to open,
updatelink, save and close for each file in certain order. If any file
create error during the saving process, because of fail to write into the
harddisk, then it will cause problem for opening this file on next time. If
the file is 267 of 500 files, then I need to fix this file and re-run the
macro starting from the 1 of 500 files again.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to quickly check any O/I error for
all files in macro coding before opening any file? Since physical opening and
closing files take a long period, if I can check any I/O error for all files
before opening them, I can manually fix those I/O error files first before
opening and closing 500 files.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thank in advance for any suggestions
Eric
