it will take place. However, when I exit the cell, I lose the formatting.

When you go to Print Preview does the color show?

I can't recreate the problem no matter how hard I try. Is the sheet
protected in anyway at all? Is there event code in the worksheet module?

Is the text the result of a formula? If it is, you will not be able to do what
you are attempting.

You can only "differentially format" a text string. This can be done in a VBA
macro if you want to.

I cannot reproduce your problem. It works fine on my system. I can view
different colors of edited text in print preview mode. I chenked zooming in
Print preview too.
