Default Is there a way to turn off Sum on Pivot Tables by default?

I'm running Excel 2003. I create Pivot tables frequently. When I pull in my
data, the "Sum" information appears by deafult. Of course I can go in and
hide this column, but is there a way to hide it by default? I hide it a lot
more than I actually use it.

If you mean the grand total column, there's no way to hide it by
default. There's an add-in here that you can use to quickly turn the
grand totals on or off:

If that's not what you mean, perhaps you can provide an example of what
you're trying to hide.

It's not just the grand total - Excel is creating a subtotal for each column
of data in my Pivot Table. There is the additional Grand Total column, but
I'm more interested in getting rid of the subtotals that are included with
each column.
