Default Shared workbook: multiple user instances

We have a situation where people seem to be losing their changes in a shared
workbook. The problem may be related to the fact that there are multiple
instances of users. When you 'un-share' the workbook, mandatory for some
spreadsheet functions such as adding woorksheets, these users are then
deleted from the list.

I can email a graphic if the dialog box of users i'm referring to, since
this forum does not seem to allow attached files.
