Default Excel Chart-data references link another worksheet in same workboo

One of my colleagues has a workbook that was created in Excel 2003 that
contains several charts. The charts worked fine in Excel 2003. However, two
of the charts do not work in Excel 2007. Our Microsoft Office programs are
set to open and save documents in Compatibility Mode (Office 97-2003 format).
The charts data series links to cells in a worksheet that contains links to
other cells in another worksheet in the same workbook. When checking the
links for the charts, they appear to be working properly. However, the chart
will not show any series of data. Also, the Value Axis does not show any
data even though it has been selected. The two charts that are linking to
cells that dont contain other links work fine. Do you have any idea what
could be causing this issue?
