Linking an Excel 2003 document copied to a Word 2003 document
Hi, Everyone.
I have Office 2003. I copied an Excel 2003 document using the button on the Standard toolbar, and then I opened a Word document and clicked on Paste Special Paste Link Microsoft Office Excel Worksheet object OK. The Excel worksheet was successfully transferred, but when I made a change in a cell of the Excel source document, that change was not reflected in the corresponding cell in the Excel copy in the Word document. Is it possible to make a change in the source document and have it reflected in the destination document? If so, how? Thank you very much. |

Open and make changes in your Excel source document by double clicking in the word document. Tim "jfg" wrote: Hi, Everyone. I have Office 2003. Thank you, Tim.
I double-clicked in the Word document, which took me back to my Excel source document. I changed the contents of one cell in the source document and then went back to the Word document. The change did not take effect. What could be the problem? "Tim" wrote: It is possible. Open and make changes in your Excel source document by double clicking in the word document. Tim, your instructions to "Just save the Word and the Excel documents then
open and edit the Excel " made it work. Originally, after doing the Paste Special to the Word document, I did not close the two documents and then re-open and edit the Excel document. Thanks a million. jfg "Tim" wrote: Works perfect for me. THE PROBLEM IS YOURS!!! You dont even need to double click in the word document. Thanks, Challa. That was a very comprehensive response. I have printed your
instructions out and will now open an Excel and a Word document and apply your instructions repeatedly until I master the process. Again, thank you very much. jfg "challa prabhu" wrote: Hi, Assumption: Open both the Microsoft Excel Worksheet in the Workbook and the MIcrosoft Word document, then follow the procedure described below.
