Default Excel truncates barcode being scanned in

We are trying to scan in bar code numbers using a bar code reader.
Excel however is truncating the last four digits of the barcode.

Excel has 15 digits numerical precision and everything beyond that will be
truncated, try to preformat the range where you scan to text as opposed to
general or numbers
