Default Scanning a barcode

How do I add an enter function into a barcode that will allow me to
automatically drop to the next row after I scan the barcode?

Now if i scan the barcode i have to press enter for it to go down to the
next cell. can this be done automactically?

This should be possible, however it is not an Excel setting. You would need
to use the software that comes with your barcode reader to configure this.

Try looking in your barcode reader documentation for "Append Enter" or
"Append Carriage Return"

Bar codes can only encode ASCII or ANSI characters. It is the job of
the "Keyboard Wedge" to convert the characters that are encoded in the
bar code to appropriate "keystrokes". Most bar code scanners that have
a "keyboard wedge" interface are programmable so that you can
configure them to insert additional keystrokes after each bar code
that you scan. This is typically accomplished by scanning special bar
codes in the users manual for the scanner. If you have a bar code
scanner that has a RS232 output then the "keyboard wedge" is a
software program that you run in your PC and you would configure the
"software wedge" to add the necessary down arrow or whatever
keystrokes you like after the bar code data.
If you have a RS232 output scanner and whatever software wedge you are
using does not support adding keystrokes then you might want to look
at a software wedge called BC-Wedge from TALtech.
