Have a working validation list...however, some users are complaining that
when they choose a value from mid point in the list and move to the next
wrong...the list stays at the mid-point and does not reset to the start of
the alphabetically sorted list.

What causes this and can it be fixed...a small problem but it is annoying
some. :)

1st at all make sure there is not blank cells in the list of names where the
DV come from.
2nd the normal behavior of DV for excels ( I'm not sure about 2007) is this
one :
When you chose a name( or value) from DV , the next time you go back to the
same DV or dropdown list it will start in that same name or value that you
left it.
