Default Opening saved workbook

I am using excel 2007. I am using few macros also. My application generates a
workbook (containing data and charts for the data) in .csv format. Saving
this in .xls format using excel 2003 worked fine. Opening this saved file
also worked fine.

When I try to save the same using excel 2007, the dialog is " file.csv
cannot be saved in current format. To save your changes, click OK and theb
save it as latest format."
Clicked OK and proceeded to save as .xlsx file , when I try to open this
saved file, the message seen is" Excel was able to open the file by
repairing or removing the unreadable content".

Often, the xml part of the workbook is removed. I am able to see only the
data and the charts are lost.

Is there any other way I can save the generated .csv file and reopen it
without losing data?

Any suggestions???

Thank you!!
