Default Truncation of text when Copy/Paste to another worksheet

Excel 2003.

I'm attempting to help a friend speed up a process. In collection of
information from several workers, all information was put into one workbook-
several sheet tabs. He would like to copy/paste areas of text from the
several sheets to a new mater workbook but the text is being truncated at
about 100 characters (+or-).

Is there a limit in the c&p feature? Or, could there be a setting in one of
the workbooks that is not allowing the full text to be c&p?

Thanks for any help!

My mistake- I believe it is in relation to a 255 character rule. Is there a
way around this?

This only happens when you have 2 separate instances of Excel running at once.

Copying between open workbooks in a single instance does not truncate the data.

Close one instance, open both workbooks in the single instance and try again.

Hi,

This can happen based on the type of copy command you use -
1. If you copy a sheet from one workbook to the other using a Ctrl Drag
method data will be truncated to 255 characters.

2. If you click the top left corner of the spreadsheet to select the entire
sheet and use a Edit, Copy command and them move to the other workbook and
paste, there will be no truncation.
