Right click on your desktop, click on Properties, click on the Appearance
tab, and change your scheme back to standard.

Hi Julie,
Settings, Control Panel, Display, Window dropdown change the interior
color back to white. Once fixed I would suggest assigning that set to
"default 2005-02-23" so you can fall back to what you used today if
you mess things up later on. See my color.htm page.

Hi,

Thanks for your suggestions but they didn't work. Upon further
investigation, I realized this issue only happens with Excel. Basically I
modified one of the grey colors to make it lighter (Tools/Options/Color).
Once I did that the orange problem happened. I am assuming because the color
I modified was the default color for the "highlighting" that defines the
location of the active cell. I guess it didn't recognize the lighter grey so
it went to orange. I pressed reset but nothing happened. Any thoughts?

THANK YOU!!

Hi Julie,
There are 1 to 3 colors that shouldn't be changed, yellow is one of them,
and gray sounds about right. I changed the colors yesterday and hit reset
and they reset okay, and I didn't think anything of it. Actually I had
messed with Control Panel colors yesterday as well and had put them back

This morning when I brought up Excel I had dark blue background on some
of the drop down toolbars before opening any workbook. I unhide one of
my two hidden workbooks and the color went away, did the same for the
other (no color turned up) and hid both workbooks again and opened the
workbook I wanted to work with (no strange colors there either). Don't know
why that happened but perhaps you might try the same steps. (My Excel is 2000)
