Default Calculate and Sum not working

After I insert a function, normally when I add another amount it
automatically sums it up. It dose not do that now. I have to reinsert a
function every time I need to see the calculated total. The majority of my
work day revolves around excel and using the functions. Please help me.

Sounds like the calc mode's set "inadvertently" to Manual. Check/ensure the
calc mode's set to Auto. Click Tools Options Calculation tab. Options are
there
