Default Screen does not scroll as active cell moves down the page

When I have the active cell at the bottom of a page and press the down arrow,
the active cell changes (I can tell by the contents of the Formula bar), but
the screen does not scroll and I can't see the active cell----please help!

Maybe Window|Unfreeze panes will help.

If a person applies data|Filter|autofilter and later applies that window|freeze
Panes, the frozen pane may not be in the location that was intended.
