Hi all,

Im trying to create a worksheet so that a cell background changes colour
depending on whether a Y or N is input into the cell.

I have looked in the help but to no avail!

Hello there.

I believe you want to use conditional formatting for your task.

1)Select all your cells that you want to have this conditional
formatting.
2)Goto Format, look lower on the menu list for Conditional Formatting.
3)Start with Condition 1. that line should read "Cell value is"...
(next over) "Equal to" (next over) Type a "Y". (It is NOT case
sensitive, so either a Y or y will do.
4)Then click on the format button for Condition 1. Goto "Patterns"
tab, choose your color that you want, then choose ok.
5)Don't exit yet. Now do the same thing for Condition 2 but this
time, where you typed a Y for Condition 1, type a "N" and set your
OTHER color that you want.
6)Click ok, then test to see if it worked.
