Default trusted location for macros not working

I am storing files in MS Groove file sharing tool (great, for anyone who
hasn't tried), which, when it opens files from within the tool we're using
(the sharepoint tool within Groove), actually opens the file in a
doc&setting/local/temp location. I don't see the option in '07 Excel for
telling the program to warn about macros. All it does is allow for trusted
locations. But a temp location cannot be a trusted location (according to
the message I get back from Excel when I try to use the temp folder as a
trusted location.

as a result, I'm stuck not able to open files from within Groove and use the
macros in those files.

Any suggestions/workarounds, especially from anyone at MS who may not have
thought through this issue when the security issue was addressed in Excel?
