Default Status Bar - Need to see # of #

How do I get the status bar to reflect the # of # results when filtering? I
have the status bar checked in Tools - Options but that isn't working. I've
just upgraded to Excel 2003 and can not get it to display. (It worked in the
older version that I had.) Please help!
