Default Excel 2003

I have inherited an XLS. In one column if I enter HIGH or LOW in lower case
it changes immediately to upper case. Anything else I enter stays in lower
case.
I see no formulas or macros. I checked autocorrect and high or low is not in
the list to be changed to upper case. There is no data validation on the
cells. See no smart tags not do I see it as a drop down list. What could I be
missing?

Have you tried formatting the cell to "Text" (Format Cell :: Number
Tab :: Category :: Text)?
