HELP! I created a large master workbook with multiple tabs (spreadsheets).
Each spreadsheet has MANY links to external workbooks. When the master workbook was originally created, all of the links worked successfully. Suddently, a few of the cells are now showing the link information rather than the data from the external workbook. It doesn't appear that these cells are not updating. You know when you open the external workbook, how the path in the link shrinks -- or expands if you close the external workbook? This is not happening. To anticipate your questions: Yes -- I do click on UPDATE when opening the master spreadsheet. Yes -- the links are complete and begin with an equal sign (=). They have not be edited since they were originally created. If I simply copy a cell that is working into the cell that is not, it works just fine until I edit the link to redirect it to the correct location. If I edit the information in the external workbook, nothing is affected. I don't know what changed and I don't understand what is happening. Any thoughts. Your input would be most helpful. Thanks so much. Ellen |

Do you mean that you're seeing the formula instead of the results of the
formula? If yes, Select the range to fix format the cells as General Then re-enter the formulas by: edit|replace what: = (equal sign) with: = replace all If a cell is formatted as text when you type in the formula, you'll have this problem. Thanks, Dave. I actually saw another message you posted with the "replace the
=" suggestion. I tried it and it worked. Thanks much. "Dave Peterson" wrote: Do you mean that you're seeing the formula instead of the results of the formula?
