Default How do I sum the lowest n numbers in an array with n variable?

In article ,
says...

Suppose your data are in A1:A3 and 'n' is in D1. Then use the array formula
=SUM(SMALL(A1:A3,ROW(INDIRECT("1:"&D1))))

If you have a follow up question please use the body of the post for it and
not just the subject line.
