Default unable to change format of a cell

Hi all. In my excel sheet i select format all cells by going to the number
tab and select number category and set the format i want under 'negative
numbers' section. Satisfied with the changes I then saved my excel sheet.
However when i open the same file again i could see some of the cells showing
Â¥(yen) sign together with the number in the cell. I went back to format the
cell by going to number tab and number category again and set to the format i
want. After seeing the results i saved, but when i open the file it is still
having the same yen problem. Why is this so? How can i solve this? I am using
excel 2003. Thks in advance.

I can't imagine why this would happen, but if it happened to me, I'd
probably try Edit--Clear--All and re-enter the value(s). Then save, then
format properly, then save, close, and reopen to test.

Hope it helps!
