Default Excel toolbar

For some reason I have lost my toolbar and I can't get it back. When I go to
Tools-Customize and then select Toolbar the only thing in the box is
Worksheet Menu bar. I have tried to reset it and nothing happens. Any help
would be appreciated.

With Excel closed down................

Do a search on your computer for your *.XLB file which is where Excel stores
custimization to toolbars and menus.

It can become corrupt.

When found, re-name it to *.xlbOLD

Re-start Excel and the default setup should appear.

Default Excel toolbar

I used to have a whole bunch of customized toolbars, but I had to get my XP
User account changed from one profile to another (corporate IT stuff...)

Now I can't access any of my old toolbars. I can get to all of my other
Office customized stuff (Word templates, etc.); the .XLB file in my new
profile is the same as in my old ... But they're all gone.

Any thoughts, or do I need to start cutting out of whole cloth again?

Thanks

If you changed the toolbar manually (tools|customize), then those changes are
stored in your *.xlb file.

And when you noticed that the *.xlb files in both profiles are the same, did you
check date update and file size?

If they were different dates/sizes, you may want to try closing excel and
copying the old *.xlb into the folder that the new *.xlb file sits in--just to
see if they actually held the same stuff.

In fact, you may want to use windows search to find all the *.xlb files before
you start customizing.

In any case, if I were you, I'd back up the nice *.xlb into a safe spot so that
I could just copy|paste whenever I (or my IT group) destroyed the real version.

Yeah, that's what I meant by "new is same as old" - same size, same mod date,
etc.

Oh, well...

Thanks
